This map marks the locations of lynchings that occurred in Florida from 1882 to 1930. Most of these locations were determined using articles that appeared in newspapers along with the list provided by Marvin Dunn. Sometimes these articles were not completely accurate. Where possible corrections have been made. For many of these lynchings there is little information besides what was found in the newspaper and therefore the reader should keep this in mind. Another consideration is that many county and city boundaries have changed since this time period and that may effect finding an exact location. We also would like to make note that several dozen of the listings did not even have names which, ultimately, made for a very difficult search.
